Biographical
ID 1. Mike and Karen are graduates of Milligan University (BSBA), a Christian university in upper east Tennessee. Mike also received computer science training at East Tennessee State University. He had a 12 year career with the Eckerd Drug Company in Florida, working in retail store management, software development, business systems analysis and project management. They were called into Christian ministry in 1991.

Mike was ordained into lifelong ministry at East 91’st Street Christian Church and has been involved in local Churches in a variety of capacities including: Worship leader, Youth ministries leader, Elder, Missions Team leader, Long-range planning, Personnel review and selection, Capital Campaign leadership, Organizational development, IT Management, Facilities and Maintenance Leadership, and Stewardship Services. He is a Crown Ministry small group leader and budget counselor.

They have led or participated in 20 short-term mission projects in 11 different countries and have taught and preached in most of those locations. (Haiti, Honduras, Mexico, Guatemala, Nicaragua, Philippines, Russia, Kenya, Zimbabwe, Thailand, and Ukraine). Mike has also received training in the area of Estate Planning and provides general financial counsel to missionary recruits.

They were called into full time missionary service in 2001. By God’s grace they developed their initial prayer and provision team and joined New Mission Systems International (NMSI), now ‘New International’, in October of that year. He served as the Chief Operations Officer for NMSI from January 2002 through January 2007 and was also the Field Advisor for Caribbean Ministries (Haiti and Central America). NMSI grew from 50 missionaries in 16 countries to over 220 missionaries in 25 countries over that time. He also served as the Interim Facilities Director for the Center for Global Outreach in Ft Myers Florida where NMSI owns and operates a 16,000 sf office building and 13 residences. He co-led the disaster recovery response to hurricane Charley in 2004-06. He then initiated the Stewardship Services Department and was a member of the Executive team. Mike is a teacher/trainer, curriculum developer, stewardship consultant, and is experienced in Church relations. He consults with Churches in the areas of Missions Mobilization, Stewardship Development and Organizational Effectiveness.

They joined Wycliffe Bible Translators USA in November of 2009 in order to serve at JAARS in Waxhaw, NC. Mike served as the Director and then Vice President of Partnership Ministries and was a member of the executive management team. He was then invited to join the Strategic Partnerships team for Wycliffe USA, specifically working on partnerships with large Churches in the Southeast US, encouraging them to join in Bible translation and Scripture engagement projects.

They later accepted an opportunity to serve overseas in August of 2014. They were the boat managers, crew and Scripture engagement facilitators aboard the 60’ Coweambah in the Torres Strait Islands of Far North Queensland, Australia.

Upon return stateside, Mike was asked to serve with Wycliffe Human Resources as a leader in Partnership Development. He is currently the Associate Director for Partnership Development – collaborating with the Church Relations and Advancement departments. His primary focus is on helping new Wycliffe missionaries get to the field and helping established missionaries stay in their assignments longer and in good spiritual and financial health.
